LAET: Help young people in Tottenham reach new heights

Your gifts can give young people from disadvantaged backgrounds the support they need to excel, through the London Academy of Excellence, Tottenham.

"Students are pushed and encouraged to achieve their full potential. Not only are teachers knowledgeable and passionate about the subjects they teach, but you are also surrounded by peers who are aspiring for greatness."
Zina O., LAE Tottenham Alumnus

Highgate is the lead educational sponsor of the London Academy of Excellence Tottenham (LAET), which provides students with a high-quality sixth form education in the heart of Tottenham.

The Northumberland Park ward of Tottenham, where the school is situated, is among the 2% most deprived wards in the country. Our ambition in partnership is to help break down all barriers to a top-class higher education, with a focus on students from disadvantaged backgrounds who make up 60% of LAET's intake.

Sharing expertise and experience, together we help ensure that hundreds of these young people not only gain places at elite universities but feel like they belong when they arrive.

LAET is now one of the highest performing schools in the country, ranking in the top 2% for student destinations, and we are proud that the Highgate community has played a role in that success, alongside major sponsors such as Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.

This Giving Day, we want to ensure pupils who face difficult circumstances in their lives can continue to benefit from an exceptional academic education at LAET. Your gifts could help to fund urgent, additional support for students, such as:

  • Intensive academic coaching, so students can make the difficult transition to year 12 and prepare for entrance interviews and tests.
  • Mental health counselling so students can thrive, recognising the strong link between disadvantage and poor mental health.
  • Opportunities beyond sixth form such as equipment or academic trips, for students with a household income below £32,000.

Every gift, large or small, will make an enormous difference to students facing disadvantage in Tottenham. This Giving Day, you can help break down barriers to educational opportunity, and help create lasting change.
